City Council voted unanimously on Friday (June 5th) to put it on the ballot instead of having council members vote on whether to adopt the ordinance. The proposal, which will be on the March 2024 ballot, would mandate that hotels notify the city by 2 p.m. every day how many empty rooms they have for the night, and then accept payment from the city's Housing Department at a fair market rate to house homeless people in the empty rooms alongside paying guests.
